Printed material will be available to learn about hydroponics.
Bill Heiden’s Bio:
Bill Heiden is a political historian and social entrepreneur who learned hydroponic farming methods at the side of his teenage sons as they built an international development organization around the deployment of that technology. He is currently the Executive director of Levo International. Levo has active hydroponics projects in Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Mexico, as well as substantial operations in the Hartford CT region. Bill will introduce you to the modern version of an ancient technique and give you information on how you can integrate hydroponics into your existing growing, or show you how to start from scratch with “off the rack” materials. As the name suggests, simplified hydroponics strips out the high tech complexities associated with mainstream hydroponics methods and is readily integrated into existing traditional agriculture, or flexible enough to stand alone in areas where traditional agriculture is impractical.
Description of the Event:
In this presentation, you will learn the basics of hydroponics; the differences between hydroponics and traditional growing methods; the advantages and disadvantages of hydroponics compared to other growing methods; the difference between conventional hydroponic methods and simplified hydroponics; how to evaluate the use of hydroponics; and how to integrate hydroponics when that is appropriate in your growing efforts.
