Emily’s Bio:
Emily Carvalho is a naturalist with a passion for inspiring others to cultivate their own relationships with the natural world through gardening, foraging, and wildlife watching. Born and raised in Dorchester, Emily’s fascination for flora and fauna started in childhood and led her to the University of Maine where she studied wildlife ecology and environmental sciences. She is an avid bird watcher and wildlife photographer with 10 years of experience learning, working, and teaching others about the natural world. Emily is dedicated to educating others on the importance of understanding and stewarding our natural world in urban landscapes. Experience Emily’s enthusiasm and join her this season to learn more about bird ecology and identification, wild edible plants, and food as medicine.
Description of the Event:
Join ecologist Emily for an end of summer foraging walk farm as we welcome shorter days and cooler weather. Our guided walk will take you through the farm, where you’ll learn about a variety of plants that can be harvested for food and medicinal purposes. From berries to roots, we’ll discuss the hidden treasures of the farm and learn how to identify and harvest them sustainably.
Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring along a basket for your foraged finds. The walk will end with foraged snacks crafted by Emily.
This event is co-sponsored by the Middlesex Conservation District (MCD) and Clark Farm.
